Building Inclusive Pathways for All
Garnduwa and Sport4All Partner to Strengthen Opportunities for People with Disability in the Kimberley
Sport has always been one of our strongest connectors, a place where culture, community and leadership come together.
Through a new partnership with Sport4All, Garnduwa is proud to be building even stronger pathways for First Nations people with disability to take part in sport and recreation across the Kimberley.
Sport4All is a national inclusion program, supported by the Australian Sports Commission, that helps schools, clubs and local governments make sport more accessible for everyone.
By partnering with Garnduwa, Sport4All will ensure its work in the Kimberley is guided by culture, local leadership and community voices every step of the way.
“Sport is a powerful vehicle for connection and leadership,” said Josepha Howard, Deputy CEO at Garnduwa.
“This partnership helps ensure everyone in our communities can take part and thrive in sport in ways that are culturally safe, locally driven, and led by community.”
Together, Garnduwa and Sport4All will co-design and support the delivery of the Sport4All Inclusion Coach program in the Kimberley.
This role will be based locally and designed for a person with disability to champion inclusive practice across our region’s schools, clubs and communities.
“As Sport4All grows across Western Australia, intersectionality is a key focus,” said Carl Partridge, National Manager of Sport4All.
“Our collaboration with Garnduwa brings together deep local knowledge with inclusive frameworks - a combination that can create lasting community change.”
Under this partnership, Garnduwa will:
- Provide cultural and community guidance for the Inclusion Coach role
- Offer workplace support and networks across the Kimberley
- Support recruitment and ongoing engagement in community
- Advocate for sustainable inclusion long after the program begins
For Garnduwa, this partnership is more than an MOU, it’s another way we’re living our values of Culture, Community and Leadership.
It means creating a future where every young person, regardless of ability, can experience the pride, purpose and connection that come through sport.
