The 2018 Kimberley Spirit U/16's Development Carnival
The Kimberley Spirit U/16's program for 2018 wrapped up on the weekend with over 100 selected male participants and volunteers travelling to Fitzroy Crossing for the 2018 Kimberley Spirit U/16's Development Carnival.
Despite the heat, each team showed flare and how football is played in their part of the Kimberley. West Kimberley played a contested brand of footy, East Kimberley showed silky skills while Central Kimberley and Kutjunka produced plenty of run and carry.
Claremont FC Talent Manager - Warren Parker and Fremantle Dockers Next Generation Academy Coach - Tendai Mzungu also attended the carnival to show their support for Kimberley football and identify talent for 2019 and beyond.
The following players were awarded for their strong performances across the two days:
" West Kimberley Best Team Player - Samuel Lynch
" Central Kimberley Best Team Player - Corin Brown
" Kutjunka Best Team Player - Noah Gordon
" East Kimberley Best Team Player - Trent Padoon
" Carnival Most Valuable Player - Melvin Tataya
This event wouldn't be possible without the support provided by volunteers from around the Kimberley.
Garnduwa continues to prove that the logistical barriers faced in the Kimberley can be overcome by Kimberley Spirit Football Academy events like this carnival (e.g. we had players from Bidyadanga Community and Kununurra participate - over 1,100kms apart).
Thanks to Healthway for their continued support of the Kimberley Spirit Football Academy.
From here, Kimberley Spirit will be making player selections from the carnival for 2019 football opportunities such as the North West Academy Football Camp in Perth.
