The Kings take a shot at goal during the last minutes of the Grand Final match between And 1 and The Kings

The final week of the School Holidays saw the Kununurra town courts packed with kids for the Smarter than Smoking 3-on-3 Basketball Competition. Boys and girls 10-15 years of age mixed together to make seven Kununurra teams. The teams battled it out over the two evenings of qualifying games to be one of the top four teams to make the semi-finals. The semi-finals were a tough matchup between the Kings and the Kununurra Girls. Both teams fought hard for a place in the Grand Final. The teams were even for most of the game but the Kings finished too strong for the Kununurra Girls. The Kings secured their spot in the Grand Final which was set when undefeated And 1 slipped smoothly in after a convincing win over fourth placed LMNTRIX. And 1 continued their winning streak and were crowned champions after defeating the Kings.

Garnduwa would like to thank Save the Children for their support and help during the entire the competition. A huge congratulations to all players who, despite the soaring heat, maintained their high level of skill and enthusiasm all the way to the end of the competition.
