Smarter Than Smoking School Holiday Activities
The July School Holidays have been jam packed with sporting activities and NAIDOC week celebrations. During the first week of the school holidays in Kununurra there was a 3-on-3 Basketball competition that was held over three days and involved about 100 kids competing each day. Supported by Garnduwa, the 3-on-3 competition saw students of all ages having a ball on the court.
The second week of the school holidays was dedicated to celebrating NAIDOC week and was kicked off with a community day in White Gum Park. Garnduwa ran football and soccer activities which were great events for the participants and supporters alike.
The NAIDOC celebrations continued into the week with a Junior Ball, free film night, and another basketball competition organized by Garnduwa. The basketball was a 5-on-5 competition and was a huge hit with the older kids. The boys and girls mixed together for the competition and helped to make it a fun-filled day. There were several very close matches and some outstanding skills on display. The day finished with a scratch match for the younger kids who were very happy to throw on their singlets for a run.
