Monday the 1st of September saw the Broome Girls Academy journey the 220 km to Derby for the Boab Netball Challenge hosted by Derby Girls Academy. The game commenced at 3pm with the host team having a interchange of almost 16 players being locked in as the favourite.

A strong defense plus some sharp shooting saw Derby take a handy lead in the first half while Broome seemed to be worn out from the bus travel as they are slow off the mark. The second half saw Broome lift their intensity and the game was on. Derby continued using the bench for fresher legs but a solid Broome Team walked away with the win.

The event was a great chance for a match between the two Academies with the emphasis on being competitive while balancing that with forming friendships and developing good sportsmanship through Netball.

Once the match had finished both Academies went to try their luck at fishing down at the Derby Jetty. We capped off the evening at the Jetty with a dinner at the The Catch.
