On a bright Thursday morning in March Garnduwa headed out to Bayulu Community School to run an invigorating session of Aussie Hoops with the Year 2, 3 and 4 classes. With the help of Tristan McCarthy from Fitzroy Valley District High School, who has joined Garnduwa for work experience, staff ran warm-ups with the enthusiastic group of 30 Students. After warm-ups, students were taught basketball techniques such as bounce passes, chest passes and correct methods of shootings and eagerly the children listened ready to have a go with the basketball. Displaying amazing skill, the students went through the drills and showed off their new basketball knowledge.

To close the day a game of Red Rover was played and was then followed by a questionnaire about heathy eating for a cool-down activity. The group showed great awareness of healthy eating and often emphasized the importance of eating bush tucker to assist in maintaining a healthy diet. With the session complete and good-byes said, Garnduwa staff eagerly await the next trip out to Bayulu Community School to visit and teach these bright, energetic young people.
