Fitzroy Valley school footballers enjoying the Eagles Cup Carnival

Fitzroy Valley remote community schools were given the opportunity to participate in football clinics throughout the week of the 10th of August to promote Auskick. Noonkanbah, Yakanarra, Yiyili and Wangkatjungka schools were put through their paces by Garnduwa staff member, Jerome Till, and Football Development Manager, Michael Farmer, during their football tour in the West Kimberley. The students were taught skills and participated in a wide range of fun drills that showcased their kicking, handballing and marking talents.

The tour concluded in Fitzroy Crossing with the annual Fitzroy Crossing Eagles Cup Carnival. Five schools attended and made up 4 teams which participated in the round robin competition. Bayulu Remote School won the Fitzroy Crossing Eagles Cup 2015 after remaining undefeated and then winning an exciting game against Yakanarra/Wangkatjungka to decide the championship. Our thanks goes out to all teachers, schools and athletes who participated in the event and made our football tour a great success.
