Balgo students try their hand at Silk Screening during Deadly Divas Day.

In August Garnduwa held the annual Smarter than Smoking Deadly Divas Days in Kununurra, Halls Creek and Balgo. Over 100 girls participated in the program that was made possible because of the great help we received from all the volunteers.

The girls in Kununurra got their groove on with Zumba and modern and belly dance sessions. They had an opportunity to put their art skills to good use and were also treated to some pampering at the Deadly Day Spa. The girls learnt loads at the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) information session. They then cooked up a storm making some healthy burgers for lunch.

The girls in Halls Creek also had the opportunity to be treated at the Deadly Day Spa, to enjoy an art activity, and to attend a FASD information session. In addition, they were introduced to drumming thanks to Wanda from Parent Support.

In Balgo, the girls had a full on schedule beginning with Sally from Boystown who taught silk screening where the girls created some amazing scarves. The Balgo Art Centre held painting workshops and the girls also enjoyed the Deadly Day Spa where they had their hair and nails done, as well as hand scrubs! The girls had a ball at the Dance workshop and learnt some killer moves!

Many thanks to all those who made Smarter than Smoking Deadly Divas Days a great success.
