Central Kimberley Football League Grand Final
It is that time of year again for the Marra Worra Worra Premiership which is awarded each year to the champion team of the Central Kimberley Football League. For 2015 the grand final was played in Fitzroy Crossing between the Noonkanbah Blues and the Yakanarra Dockers. This game was the fourth consecutive grand final appearance for the Blues which gave them the advantage in the first quarter of the game. Although the Dockers struggled in the beginning quarter, they fought back hard and were able to level the scores by half time thanks to the outstanding play of Leighton Bilgin and Javin Pye. Then experienced Blues’ finals players, Jamin Bent and Zaphaniah Skinner, took control of the game in the second half and the Blues finally broke open the game to lead them to an impressive win by 40 points over the Dockers. The final score was the Noonkanbah Blues 14.10 (94) to Yakanarra Dockers 8.6 (54). The winning coach, Thomas Skinner, praised his team’s attitude and fighting spirit to finally win a grand final after four attempts.
