Competitors showing off their athletic skills

In Broome on the 3rd and 4th of September the best track and field competitors in the West Kimberley took centre stage in the region’s premier athletics event. The high school athletes kicked off the event on Thursday at the West Kimberley High School Inter-school Athletics Carnival. It was a display of some amazing talent which led to many records being broken. Broome Senior High School came away with the overall win overcoming the team on the rise, St Mary’s College.

The Primary Inter-school Athletics Carnival followed on the Friday at St Mary’s College. The event was attended by all the West Kimberley Primary Schools including a combined Kullarri Remote Community Schools team. The positive sportsmanship and athletic skills shown on the day were a pleasure to watch and celebrate. The winning team was from Cable Beach Primary School, followed closely by the Roebuck Primary School team in second place, and the newly formed Kullarri Remote Community Schools team came in third. Well done to Mr Shannon McAlpine from Sacred Heart School who worked tirelessly to organise the new remote schools team. They will definitely be a force to watch in future athletic competitions.
