Deadly Diva Day in Bayulu
In week 8 of term 3, 26 young girls from around Fitzroy Valley came together as one in a small community called Bayulu that is about 15km out of Fitzroy Crossing to participate in Garnduwa Smarter than Smoking Young Indigenous Deadly Diva Day.
There was a range of exciting activities for the young girls to workshop through as the day rolled on. Despite the heat everyone kept feed and watered and gave it a good go.
It was fantastic to see so many young girls from around the Valley in good attendance and behaviour, also stepping out of they comfort zone and showing a great role model of being an amazing leader in the future. Opening the day to all high school girls received good feedback and young girls comment on how they look forward to doing it all again next year.
Thank you to Alive and Kicking, Nindilingarri, Alcohol and Drugs Service, Marninwarntikura and the Shire for running a great workshop for the girls. We would not have been able to pull the day off without your hard work and collaboration.
A special thank you also to Fitzroy Valley District High School students for catering the lunch on the day.
